Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Reefer Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigerated transport equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. Your expertise in refrigeration systems, HVAC, and mechanical repairs will be vital in keeping our fleet operating efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art refrigeration technology and contribute to the seamless operation of our logistics network. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on refrigerated trailers and equipment to ensure reliable operation. Diagnose issues using schematics, HVAC design principles, and specialized tools such as ohmmeters and refrigerant gauges. Maintain and repair ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC/R units, boilers, and related mechanical components. Conduct field service tasks including appliance repair, plumbing, welding, and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime. Interpret technical schematics and diagrams to accurately identify problems and implement effective solutions. Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and industry standards for property maintenance and equipment repair. Document all repairs, inspections, and service activities thoroughly for record-keeping and compliance purposes. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic specializing in refrigeration, HVAC systems, or construction-related maintenance. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair, welding, boiler operation, and ammonia refrigeration systems. Ability to read schematics and HVAC design layouts effectively. Familiarity with property maintenance tasks including plumbing, appliance repair, air conditioning systems, and field service operations. Experience working with drivers or similar fleet management systems is a plus. Knowledge of electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical components. Prior experience in HVAC/R or refrigeration maintenance is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
