Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Technician to service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems. This position focuses exclusively on refrigeration equipment for grocery, restaurant, industrial, and retail applications. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills, can work independently in the field, and understands the urgency of refrigeration service in commercial environments. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair commercial refrigeration systems including: Walk-in coolers and freezers Reach-in refrigerators and freezers Ice machines Refrigerated prep tables and display cases Refrigeration racks and condensing units (if applicable) Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection Identify compressor, evaporator, condenser, TXV/EEV, and control failures Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to reduce downtime Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer manuals Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs, system condition, and recommendations Complete service documentation, work orders, and parts usage accurately Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory in a professional manner Follow all safety procedures and EPA regulations Required Qualifications 3-5+ years of hands-on commercial refrigeration experience EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal required) Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (single & three-phase) Experience working with low- and medium-temperature systems Ability to work independently and handle emergency service calls Valid driver's license and clean driving record Ability to lift 75 lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and in confined spaces Preferred Experience & Certifications Experience with rack refrigeration systems Knowledge of EMS/BAS and refrigeration controls Ice machine manufacturer training (Scotsman, Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, etc.) Familiarity with CO₂ or A2L systems (if applicable) Journeyman or refrigeration license (state dependent) Schedule & Work Environment Full-time position On-call rotation required (after-hours, weekends, and holidays) Outdoor and indoor work in all weather conditions Compensation & Benefits (customize as needed) Competitive hourly pay based on experience Overtime and on-call pay Company service vehicle, tools, phone, and tablet Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and advancement opportunities
