You will travel between restaurants to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and complete repairs quickly to minimize downtime. This role suits a hands‑on technician who enjoys variety, problem solving, and working independently while supporting a fast‑paced restaurant operation.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Preventive maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections and routine servicing on fryers, grills, ovens, refrigeration units, HVAC, plumbing, and grease management systems.
  • Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing issues using schematics and diagnostic tools; repair or replace motors, pumps, valves, wiring, thermostats, and control components.
  • Electrical and controls: Work on low‑voltage and standard restaurant electrical systems, POS power supplies, and basic control systems; coordinate with licensed electricians for high‑voltage or code‑sensitive work.
  • Refrigeration and HVAC:
    Maintain walk‑in coolers/freezers, reach‑in units, and HVAC systems to ensure food safety and comfort.
  • Equipment installation and upgrades: Install new kitchen equipment and complete retrofits or upgrades at multiple sites.
  • Safety and compliance: Conduct safety checks, secure work areas, and follow local health and OSHA guidelines; ensure equipment meets food‑service standards.
  • Customer service: Communicate clearly with restaurant managers and staff about repairs, timelines, and preventive recommendations.
  • Experience and Qualifications
  • Proven maintenance experience in quick‑service restaurants, food service, or light commercial facilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and kitchen equipment.
  • Electrical familiarity with low‑voltage systems and basic wiring; willingness to coordinate with licensed electricians for complex electrical work.
  • Comfort with tools and diagnostics such as multimeters, gauges, and basic hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel between locations reliably.
  • Strong communication skills in English for reporting and customer interactions.
  • Certifications such as EPA 608, HVAC, or refrigeration credentials are a plus. Military or technical trade experience is advantageous.
  • Travel Requirements and Schedule
  • Mobile role: Regular travel between Carl's Jr. locations within an assigned region; overnight stays may be required for multi‑day assignments.
  • On‑call rotation: Participate in an on‑call schedule for emergency repairs outside normal business hours.
  • Physical Demands and Safety
  • Physical work: Frequent lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces and hot kitchen environments.
  • Safety focus: Must follow safe lifting practices and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to work at heights and operate aerial equipment safely when needed.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour
