Full Time, Hourly Experience level: Junior Working hours: 6:00am- 2:30pm Vivax-Metrotech develops and manufactures products for buried utility locating, fiber-optic cable locating, ferrous metal detection, coating analysis and performing ACVG surveys on cathodic protected pipes, finding sheath to ground faults on cables, inspecting the interior of pipes and ducts, and mapping of buried utilities. Vivax-Metrotech products are backed by our worldwide network of trained distributors and service centers, offering our customers local sales, training, and high-quality service. Located in Santa Clara, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, Vivax-Metrotech Corporation designs and manufactures buried utility locating instruments and video inspection equipment. At Vivax-Metrotech we are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Repair Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Repair Technician is to diagnose and repair a variety of equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications and skills:Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems Perform routine maintenance on various types of equipmentSoldering Precision:
Perform advanced soldering and de-soldering tasks on small-scale components (e.g., 0603 chip size).Test and Verify:
Utilize test equipment like oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies to validate repairs.Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed repair records, ensuring correct grammar and spelling.Process Improvement:
Collaborate with team members to improve repair processes and provide feedback for product development.Timely Execution:
Manage repair tasks efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.Physical Tasks:
Lift, move, push and handle equipment or items weighing up to 50 to 100 lbs. as part of repair and maintenance duties frequently.Requirements:
Experience:
1-5 years of practical experience testing electronic devices and PCBs, with specific knowledge of component-level troubleshooting.Soldering Expertise:
Proficient in soldering small-scale components, including 0603 chip size or smaller, using appropriate tools and techniques.Technical Aptitude:
Strong knowledge of electrical components, circuit functionality, and use of diagnostic equipment.Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to be self-starter on troubleshooting and independently resolve complex electronic issues.Communication Skills:
Demonstrates outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, effectively conveying complex technical information and upholding professional standards in email correspondence.Physical Capability:
Lift, move, push and handle equipment or items weighing up to 25 to 50 lbs. as part of repair and maintenance duties frequently.Certifications:
Certification in electronics repair or a related field is highly desirable.Teamwork:
Capable of working collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.Compensation:
