Smog Technician / Repair Herreras Auto Repair Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Smog Technician / Repair specialist, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring vehicles meet emissions standards and operate at peak performance. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of automotive systems, utilizing your mechanical expertise to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles efficiently. Your skills will help keep our community's vehicles compliant and safe on the road, all while fostering a fast-paced, rewarding work environment. Duties Perform smog inspections on a wide range of vehicle makes and models, ensuring compliance with state emissions regulations. Conduct comprehensive vehicle repairs related to emissions systems, including catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, and exhaust components. Use hand tools and power tools to disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle parts accurately and efficiently. Assist with general vehicle maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake repairs, and auto body repairs when needed. Lift heavy components safely during repairs or replacements, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic equipment and mechanical knowledge to determine necessary repairs. Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and parts used to ensure quality control and compliance. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive repair and auto body work. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment essential for vehicle servicing. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and automotive service standards. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in a physically demanding environment. Experience with auto restoration projects or heavy-duty repairs is a plus. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing issues accurately. Mechanic experience that demonstrates versatility across various automotive systems is highly valued.
