Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Optical Lab Technician to join our team. The Optical Lab Technician will be responsible for performing various tasks related to the fabrication and production of eyewear products, including lenses, frames, and prescription fulfillment. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality optical products.
Responsibilities:
Fabricate and assemble prescription lenses into eyeglass frames following established procedures and specifications. Operate and maintain optical lab equipment, such as lens edgers, lensometers, and frame heaters. Perform lens surfacing tasks, including generating, polishing, and beveling lenses to meet prescription requirements. Verify accuracy and quality of finished eyewear products by conducting inspections and measurements. Adjust frames and lenses to ensure proper fit and alignment for customers. Assist in managing inventory of optical materials, lenses, frames, and supplies. Collaborate with optician to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment and lens customization. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical lab, including workstations and equipment. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Keep up to date with industry trends, advancements, and technologies related to optical fabrication and production.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in optical technology is a plus. Proven experience as an Optical Lab Technician or similar role in an optical lab setting. Strong knowledge of optical lab procedures, equipment, and tools. Proficient in lens edging, surfacing, and finishing techniques. Familiarity with lensometers, pupillometers, and other optical measurement devices. Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail for precise lens and frame manipulation. Ability to read and interpret prescription information accurately. Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping. Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and provide customer service.
