Bilingual (English/Spanish) Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Building Permit Technician to support the building permit process within a fast-paced regulatory environment. This role is responsible for assisting the public, reviewing permit applications, verifying contractor requirements, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and procedures. The Building Permit Technician will manage permit intake, track active applications, process payments, and coordinate with contractors, homeowners, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate permitting. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience Requirements Minimum of two (2) years of experience in permitting, administrative support, construction, or customer service roles Experience reviewing applications, documents, or compliance-related materials Experience working with databases, tracking systems, or records management Experience handling payments, cashiering, or financial transactions Experience providing customer service and responding to inquiries professionally Ability to interpret and apply codes, ordinances, and regulatory requirements Strong organizational and time-management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions Experience Preferences Experience working in building departments, permitting offices, or construction-related environments Familiarity with building codes, contractor licensing, and inspection processes Experience verifying contractor licenses and insurance requirements Notary Public certification or ability to obtain certification Experience working in government or municipal environments Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Ability to perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and reaching Ability to work in both office and occasional field environments Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Education Preferences Additional coursework or training in construction, public administration, or a related fieldTraining Schedule:
