Landscape Maintenance Team Member / Public Works

Position Summary The Landscape Maintenance Team Member performs a variety of grounds maintenance and public works duties to support the upkeep of city properties, parks, drainage systems, rights-of-way, and public facilities. This position involves operating landscaping equipment, assisting with special events, maintaining public spaces, and responding to emergency situations as needed. Starting Pay Starting pay is $16.35 per hour . Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate landscaping and grounds maintenance equipment, including: Zero-turn mowers Edgers String trimmers Hedge trimmers Blowers Maintain city drainage systems, parks, rights-of-way, public facilities, wastewater plant grounds, and other city-owned properties. Assist with setup and breakdown of special events and activities. Provide traffic control assistance and perform litter/debris cleanup during events and work operations. Respond to emergency calls during storms and inclement weather events. Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on machinery, tools, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, work orders, and time sheets. Assist with documentation and operational support for the city wastewater treatment facility. Follow all workplace safety procedures and regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Preferred:

Minimum of six (6) months of experience in landscape maintenance or groundskeeping; however, training will be provided for the right candidate. Valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia with a clean driving record. Ability to obtain IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding labor. Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Employment is subject to a drug-free workplace policy. Work Schedule Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required during peak seasons, emergencies, or special events. Work Environment This position requires outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions and may involve lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating equipment near traffic or active work zones.
