Job Description

Description The Water & Sewer Technician installs, repairs, and maintains water and sewer mains and lines. The Water & Sewer Technician is required to be on-call frequently. The Technician must be able to respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes. Examples of Duties Installs, maintains, and repairs water and sewer mains and lines; Operates a backhoe, trencher, front-end loader, and dump truck to install water and sewer services; Locates and repairs leaks in water and sewer lines; Makes water and sewer taps; Maintains wells; adds chemicals and performs preventive maintenance; Sets water meters; Performs preventive maintenance procedures on assigned equipment; Makes and repairs utility cuts necessitated by water and sewer repairs; Operates a boring machine to install water and sewer pipes; Flushes and cleans water and sewer lines; Answers emergency service calls as required; Sets barricades, cones, and warning signs at work sites; Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; One (1) year of experience in a related field; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; Valid State of Georgia Driver's License; and The ability to obtain a Water Distribution System Operator certification within 12 months of employment.
