Job Title:

Technician Job Overview The Technician is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing a variety of structures and fixtures using wood and other materials. This role ensures all work meets project specifications, local building codes, and company standards. You will interpret blueprints, operate tools safely, and collaborate with project teams on active construction sites. Key Responsibilities Measure, cut, and assemble materials according to project specifications Install structures and fixtures including framing, drywall, cabinets, doors, windows, and flooring Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans Perform repairs and maintenance on existing structures Ensure all work complies with local building codes and company standards Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site Follow all safety policies and procedures Essential Skills 1+ years of carpentry or construction experience (preferred) Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong teamwork skills in active job site environments Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred) Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with new construction projects Familiarity with local building codes and best practices Strong problem-solving and adaptability in changing conditions Effective communication skills for coordinating with teams and supervisors Why Work Here? 401(k) retirement plan options Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits Strong focus on safety and teamwork Stable work environment with long-term career growth Opportunity to develop and refine construction skills Work Environment Work as part of a crew of approximately five team members Primarily outdoor work in non-climate-controlled environments Exposure to varying weather conditions Hands-on, tool-intensive role requiring regular use of tools and equipment Emphasis on safety and adherence to job site standards Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Vernon, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
