Job Description

General Summary:
Primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of Mid Century's fiber and copper facilities. Keep current with and follow procedures and policies, keep accurate records, meet deadlines, perform under stress, and achieve optimum results. Comply with all USDA Rural Utilities Service specifications, industry standards, safety rules, regulations, and company policies.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain and repair copper and fiber optic services for business and residential customers. Maintain and repair existing equipment by using test equipment to locate line trouble. Determine necessary repairs which may include repairing wiring, station protectors, ground connections, running new wires and replacing jacks, NIDS, and pedestals as needed. Locate copper and fiber facilities throughout the service area through the
J.U.L.I.E.
notification service. Keep current on procedures and policies concerning service and requests. Complete and keep accurate timesheets, inventory records, and all repair-related forms and reports for work performed throughout the course of the day. May confer with customers to further determine problems and acceptable resolutions. Load supplies, tools, and equipment to be dispatched for scheduled repairs. Required to participate in a weekly rotating "on-call" schedule for after hours and weekends covering troubles and locates. Maintain communication with appropriate departments regarding all aspects of daily assignments. Notify Mapping and Tier 2 Departments of any changes which need to be noted in mapping or records that are found while completing duties in the field. Attend safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment. Comply with all USDA Rural Utilities Service specifications, industry standards, safety rules, regulations, and company policies. Maintain complete confidentiality of all privileged information and operational data in accordance with company policy. Work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Present yourself and communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner. Familiarize self with company products and services. Familiarize self with company policies and procedures. Exercise proper use and care of company-issued vehicle and company-issued tools. Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timeliness and schedules. Required to have a valid driver's license. Required to obtain CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and Flagger Certification (Not sure required) and to complete fire extinguisher training. Job requires employee to raise or lower objects a minimum of 60 lbs from one level to another regularly during the shift. Job requires employee to walk on a regular basis and on different types of surfaces - grassy terrain, hills, uneven terrain, gravel, etc. Must be able to work in all types of weather. During a normal work shift employee works between indoor and outdoor weather conditions. Job regularly requires employee to reach, grasp or pick up objects. Job requires the ability to distinguish colors. Job requires employee to climb ladders, work in overhead areas or confined spaces. During a normal work shift the employee could do one or more of the following - walk, stand, climb, stoop or crouch, or crawl or move about on hands and knees. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including new installations and services as workload and staffing needs dictate.
Salary Range:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour Mid Century offers an excellent benefits package including medical, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401k with employer matching, paid leave days, sick leave days, and holidays.
