Crewperson 5 -
Glass, Locks, Doors Position Function:
The Glass-Locks-Doors Crewperson 5 maintains and installs all plastic and glass fenestration, window sash and screens, and doors in the Wichita Public Schools. This includes doors of all types and the associated operating hardware, all metal and wood sash windows and appurtenances including weather stripping and the replacement of all broken glass. This position works in the key shop.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Additional Duties:
Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Equipment:
This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use.
Travel:
Travel between schools and central offices is required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Ability to perform all tasks and work the hours required Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow Ability to wear proper safety equipment as required while performing the various responsibilities required for this position Additional demands upon request of Supervisor Attendance at required meetings and in-services Daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of services Exposure to chemicals, solvents and contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc. Frequent lifting 20 to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds; lifting of over 100 pounds with assistance Work in high places on ladders and/or lifts Work in standard office and school building environments Work in wet and dusty conditions Working overtime on short notice is mandatory

Ability to communicate both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information Ability to communicate effectively with a Supervisor when their discretion is needed Ability to perform as an effective team player Ability to plan, organize, make decisions and prioritize work to meet the daily demands of the building Basic computer proficiency and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Outlook which will be determined and validated by testing Exhibits a professional manner and a positive attitude Must be detailed oriented Uses good judgment to make decisions on recurring assignments Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them Have experience in window glazing of all types of aluminum store front, curtain wall and steel sash. Have the ability to repair doors and door hardware such as panic bars, hinges and door closers, bathroom partitions, lunchroom tables, bleachers, and guttering. Have experience in installing hollow metal doors and frames and store front doors and frames. Have exceptional decision making skills, able to be a crew leader on large jobs with little or no supervision. Snow removal is mandatory Display good workmanship and planning Maintain an understanding of utilized materials and applications Is able to read and work from blueprints and drawings as necessary Possess learning knowledge of other unit operations Performs work in a safe manner and reports any hazardous conditions Assumes shared responsibility for all tools, supplies and materials Makes decisions and offers solutions to the Supervisor concerning problems in the field Makes decisions and offers solutions to the Supervisor concerning problems in the field Ability to repair doors and door hardware, such as panic bars, hinges and door closers, bathroom partitions, lunchroom tables, bleachers and guttering. Accepts the responsibility for assisting with the training, skill development and supervision of other team members Assists in maintaining good public relations, being cognizant that a Crewperson represents both the Facilities Division and Wichita Public Schools Cooperates with other employees and maintains good public relations inside and outside of his/her assignment Displays willingness to be trained in all phases of the assignment and to increase his/her skills, thus, qualifying for advancement Possesses a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service Maintains appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver's license Possesses superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership Supports the organizational goals, the mission of the Schools Service Center and the district Works cooperatively with others and assists in maintaining open lines of communication Works directly or indirectly under the Supervisor Have exceptional decision making skills and be able to be a crewleader on large jobs with little or no supervision. Snow removal is mandatory. Shall possess exceptional knowledge and demonstrate remarkable skills in the designated trade. Demonstrate outstanding qualities in efficiency, initiative and dependability when completing various tasks. Qualification Profile:
A High School Diploma or GED preferred Maintain a valid Kansas driver's license at all times throughout employment Must have experience in window glazing of all types of aluminum store front, curtain wall and steel sash.
