Job Title:
Technician, Clerical Services Position Function:
Primarily responsible for the accounting and technical support of secretarial and clerical personnel at area elementary and secondary schools.Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Provide orientation and on-site training for new secretarial and clerical personnel Train all details of managing the Activity Fund and provide fund balancing assistance for school office staff as needed Organize and manage summer activity fund audits on an annual basis Review monthly activity fund reports submitted to the accounting department Perform monthly audits per school to evaluate additional training as needed Assist with in-service day training of secretarial and clerical personnel Maintain and update Activity Fund instructions and job aids Assist Technical Assistants and other staff within Financial Services as needed Ability to handle and safeguard cash and checks for deposit Provide backup to fellow Clerical Support team members during absences Assist in system upgrades or new system implementation testing Act as the point of contact for assigned schools for clerical applications and procedure Provide multiple training models through one-on-one, small group, online, or large lecture style instruction Provide de-escalation techniques, and customer service recommendations for administrators and clerical staff Provide instruction on shaping, promoting, and sustaining a positive, inclusive, and high performing workplace cultureAdditional Duties:
Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Equipment:
This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.Travel:
Scheduled and impromptu trainings on-site at various schools occur on a frequent basis. Travel between schools and central offices is required.Physical and Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information Knowledge of financial system, Microsoft Office, and basic office equipment Ability to communicate effectively with a supervisor when their discretion is needed Ability to perform as a reliable team player Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet the daily demands of the building Ability to work independently with various tasks that can change on short notice Ability to perform under strict deadlines while working in a calm, efficient manner Use rational judgment to make decisions on recurring assignments Display a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals, and the role of every employee in achieving each of themInterrelations:
Constant and consistent contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors Works under the direct supervision of the department supervisor to complete daily tasks Works with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues Must address and resolve conflicts in a timely and matter-of-fact manner Must be able to receive and provide constructive feedback Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer serviceEmployee Punctuality and Appearance:
For schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive and professional image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their positionQualification Profile:
A High School degree or GED is required Bachelor's degree preferred Three consecutive years of USD259 bookkeeper experience required Fund Software program experience required A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is requiredFLSA Status:
