Commercial HVAC Install Technician- Job Description
- The Commercial HVAC Install Technician installs, configures, and commissions heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial buildings.
This role works with a wide range of HVAC equipment, ensures all installations meet high standards of quality and safety, and delivers reliable, professional service to customers. The technician also supports the team by sharing technical knowledge and helping maintain efficient project execution.
- Responsibilities
- + Install complete HVAC systems in commercial buildings, including furnaces, air handlers, indoor coils, UV lights, air cleaners, humidifiers, outdoor coils, and outdoor units.
+ Design, fabricate, and install duct fittings and ductwork to meet project specifications and airflow requirements. + Ensure all HVAC installations comply with manufacturer specifications, internal company standards, and applicable codes and regulations. + Diagnose and repair refrigerant systems, including TXVs, compressors, and related HVAC components. + Perform start-up and commissioning of air conditioning systems, verifying proper operation and performance. + Inspect and test electrical wiring, thermostats, and distribution systems to identify and correct issues. + Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and services performed for each project. + Conduct inspections of installed systems to confirm correct operation and adherence to quality and safety standards. + Provide high-quality customer service by maintaining a professional rapport with clients and responding promptly to their needs. + Guide and advise customers on selecting appropriate air quality systems and solutions based on their requirements. + Address client concerns, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. + Work independently with minimal or no supervision while managing tasks and priorities effectively. + Provide training, guidance, and on-the-job support to HVAC installer helpers to build their technical skills. + Collaborate with other team members and trades to support efficient project completion and problem-solving on site.
- Essential Skills
- + Proven experience installing commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air handlers, indoor coils, UV lights, air cleaners, humidifiers, outdoor coils, and outdoor units.
+ Ability to design, fabricate, and install duct fittings and ductwork for commercial applications. + Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and mechanical equipment for HVAC installation. + Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair refrigerant systems, including TXVs, compressors, and associated components. + Experience performing start-ups and commissioning of air conditioning systems. + Skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints related to HVAC installations. + Working knowledge of electrical wiring, thermostats, and distribution systems in HVAC applications. + Thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards for HVAC installation and service. + Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records of all installations and services. + Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients. + Capability to work under minimal supervision and manage tasks independently. + Ability to provide guidance and training to HVAC installer helpers and support staff. + Experience working in construction or general labor environments related to mechanical, piping, or plumbing work.

+ Comfort working with a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment on job sites. + Background in general labor tasks associated with installation and construction projects. + Ability to collaborate effectively with other trades and team members to complete projects efficiently. + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing system issues or reviewing installations.

- Work Environment
- This role is based in commercial building environments and construction sites where HVAC systems are installed and commissioned.
You will work with mechanical equipment, hand tools, piping, ductwork, and electrical components on active job sites. The position involves field-based work that may include varying site conditions, working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other commercial spaces, and collaborating closely with other trades and team members to complete projects safely and efficiently.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
