Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The service technician reports to the Lead Technician and Service Manager. Responsible for performing a range of service work on HVAC Systems, refrigeration systems, food service equipment and associated services for industrial and commercial customers. Must be able to think analytically and independently, troubleshoot systems, maintain, modify and repair assigned mechanical and electrical components. Customer oriented, dependable and able to communicate professionally with customers, managers, and co-workers. Willing to work as an active team member to accomplish company objectives.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose and repair various types of commercial HVAC, refrigeration and/or food service equipment. Proactively assess and identify additional service or maintenance needs. Complete and submit accurate information and documentation of services provided using company supplied mobile work order system. Communicate in a timely and professional manner with dispatcher and customers. Maintain company provided vehicle and tools so that they are safe and clean at all times. All tool and equipment storage areas must be neat and well organized. Maintain an accurate inventory of refrigerant, material, company provided tools, and standard repair parts. Maintain required manuals, hand tools and equipment applicable to the trade. Responsible for maintaining company and customer guidelines for not-to-exceed pricing, check-in/check-out policies and labor hour limits. Communicate effectively with management to reduce potential call-backs or warranty calls. Maintain an inventory of repair parts that encourages and facilitates first time repairs. Communicate and follow through with purchasing department to ensure that special order parts are located and purchased. Generate sales leads when possible and communicate these with management. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Technician or Service Manager. Participate in company or manufacturer provided training as directed by management.REQUIREMENTS
One or more years of successful experience, either as a commercial service or installation technician. Ability to utilize manufacturer technical assistance information including reading of operational and maintenance manuals, interacting with factory support and using 3rd party diagnostic information when available Able to clearly and professionally communicate with customers, suppliers, and coworkers. Ability to work under pressures of time, a non-standard schedule, weather and customer needs. EPA certification required for refrigeration and HVAC technicians Valid driver's license. Knowledgeable of applicable building codes, ordinances and regulations of state and local authorities pertaining to trade. Braze and solder with precision. Welding skills a plus. Knowledge of and adherence to job site health and safety regulations. Maintain proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Operate specialized machinery, equipment, power tools and hand tools utilized in the repair, installation and maintenance of equipment Work cooperatively with others and independently with little direction. Must be able to read, write, type and possess basic computer skills; Word, Excel, Windows, Outlook, PDF files. Education High school education or equivalent College or Trade school a plus Factory training and certification on related equipment a plus Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
