CLASS SUMMARY
This position is responsible for unskilled manual labor in assisting staff in performing various repairs.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 1. Operates equipment in performing various labor tasks in an assigned area, including setup and take down of equipment. 2. Assists staff in performing sewer, water main, and related repairs. 3. Cleans and maintains hand tools and power tools, and related equipment. 4. Provides lawn care services. 5. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings. This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
None
KNOWLEDGE
Applicable tools and equipment; Methods of performing standard repairs; Tool maintenance requirements; Safe work methods and practices.
SKILLS:
Utilizing variety of hand and power tools and equipment; Performing standard repairs; Cleaning and maintaining equipment; Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, fumes, odor, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, intense noise, and travel.
