Whether you bring prior door experience or you're just getting started, you'll learn to install, fix, and maintain a wide range of entry systems and hardware that keep facilities safe and running smoothly. A day in the life You start your morning reviewing the day's work orders, stocking your truck, and heading to job sites. One stop may involve replacing broken springs and hinges; the next could be calibrating an access control closer or verifying code compliance on a newly installed storefront door. Throughout the day, you communicate clearly with customers, document your steps, and verify each repair meets Vortex standards for safety and quality. What you'll handle Install and repair a broad range of commercial doors using the right tools and practices. Diagnose and complete routine repairs on components such as springs, hinges, locks, and electrical parts. Set up and adjust hardware including locks, handles, door closers, and access control systems. Confirm every install and repair meets applicable safety and building code requirements. Engage with customers, explain findings and options, and recommend cost-effective solutions. Record service visits, work performed, parts used, and results; submit accurate reports as needed. Troubleshoot issues quickly and thoroughly, ensuring dependable operation. Perform final quality checks to ensure work aligns with company standards. Schedule Full-time shifts are available between Vortex business hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime and on-call hours. What you bring High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of commercial door service experience is a plus (entry-level candidates welcome). Familiarity with door types, brands, and hardware is a plus. Confident using hand and power tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Comfort with math involving fractions and precise tape-measure reading. Clear communication and customer service skills. Meticulous attention to detail and pride in your workmanship. Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to following them. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to lift and bend frequently, climb ladders up to 20' high, work on your knees for extended periods, and safely operate power tools. Ongoing training provided to support continuous growth.
