FLD Service/Repair Technician#26-08465

All On-site Job Description The Fall Protection Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing customer‐owned fall protection equipment that returns from the field. These products often arrive coated with dirt, debris, or environmental residue, and require thorough examination and mechanical repair.
Due to the high volume and variety of incoming equipment, technicians are assigned to one or two product lines to reduce training time, ensure accuracy, and minimize frustration. This role plays a key part in ensuring products are safe, compliant, and ready to be returned to customers. Key Responsibilities Inspection & Diagnosis Visually examine returned fall protection devices for damage. Dismantle equipment to access internal components and remove defective parts. Inspect components for imperfections, wear, or dimensional changes. Determine repair requirements based on condition and customer needs. Mechanical Repair Repair or replace damaged or worn components. Clean, lubricate, and reassemble parts. Operate metalworking tools (drill press, grinder, etc.) to repair or fabricate parts. Ensure repairs meet product and safety specifications. Documentation & Workflow Create work orders and document all parts used in the repair. Estimate repair costs and communicate requirements. Initiate purchase orders for replacement parts and tooling. Maintain accurate records in alignment with departmental standards. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and the Idea Card program. Provide feedback on processes and suggest improvements for efficiency and safety. Support team members as needed and collaborate across assigned product lines. Safety Responsibilities Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all safety procedures. Immediately report hazards, injuries, or near-misses to leadership. Take reasonable precautions to prevent accidents; safety is the highest priority. Safety Team Members may conduct area inspections, address hazards, and act as safety champions. Other Duties Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor or Leads. Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical repair, maintenance, or a similar environment (private, public, government, or military). Minimum 2 years of experience using blueprints, schematics, and repair diagrams for assembly or troubleshooting. Ability to perform the Essential Functions of the Assignment (EFA) with or without reasonable accommodation (EFA available upon request). Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and repair processes. Ability to work independently within assigned product lines while supporting team needs. Good communication skills and attention to detail. Comfort working with equipment that may be dirty or contaminated from field use.
