Job Title:
Service Technician Job Description The Service Technician installs, services, and repairs hydraulic and bi-fold doors while traveling to customer sites throughout the upper Midwest. This role works hands-on with mechanical and electrical components, using a variety of hand and power tools, and requires someone who is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and eager to learn. The position involves regular travel, working at heights, and collaborating with a team to deliver high-quality service and repairs. Responsibilities Install, service, and repair hydraulic and bi-fold doors at customer locations throughout the upper Midwest. Use a wide range of hand tools and power tools daily to perform mechanical and electrical tasks. Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues related to hydraulic and bi-fold door systems. Perform assembly, adjustments, and repairs to ensure doors operate safely and efficiently. Follow detailed instructions and training on specific products and service procedures. Work safely and confidently at heights, typically around 20 feet, while using appropriate safety practices. Travel out of town and out of state as required, typically leaving early Monday morning and returning Thursday night or Friday morning. Work extended hours, generally 45-60 hours per week, to complete installations and service work on schedule. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, organized, and safe condition. Communicate effectively with team members and site contacts to coordinate work and resolve issues. Adhere to all applicable safety, driving, and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements while traveling and working on job sites. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn product-specific installation and repair procedures. Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools in a mechanical, construction, or service environment. Basic electrical understanding; electrical training or experience is preferred. Ability to work safely and comfortably at heights of approximately 20 feet. Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the upper Midwest for multiple days at a time. Valid driver's license and ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. Trainable mindset with a strong willingness to learn and follow instructions. Previous work-related travel experience is preferred. Ability to perform physically demanding work and extended hours, typically 45-60 hours per week. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in mechanical assembly, repair, or field service is beneficial. Prior exposure to hydraulic or door systems is an advantage. Background in electrical work or formal electrical training is preferred but not required. Experience working in construction or industrial environments is helpful. Demonstrated reliability and commitment to working away from home during the week. Why Work Here? The position involves working outdoors and in partially enclosed environments; work continues year-round, and winter conditions are generally enclosed but not always heated. You can expect to work approximately 45-60 hours per week, often starting around 6:00 a.m. Work is physically active and hands-on, involving regular use of hand and power tools, climbing and working at heights of about 20 feet, and operating in construction or industrial settings where safety practices and appropriate workwear are essential.
