As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of the closing date. Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to assist the project manager by supervising and coordinating technicians and administering highway construction projects. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Also serves as a technician in one or more of the following: advanced field inspections, project documentation, advanced quality assurance, and office management. Receives training and certification through Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) administered through the Associated Contractors of New Mexico and maintain re-certification. How does it get done? This position will ensure compliance with the project contracts, plans, standard specifications for highway and bridge construction, federal minimum guidelines and standard serial drawings; and to construct a quality and safe roadway system for the traveling public. The incumbent will also maintain accurate and complete project related documents which includes timely project documentation to ensure effective utilization of project assets. Position will also assist the project manager in supervising highway technicians and will execute policies and procedures that will annually reduce exposure from construction work zones. Who are the customers? The traveling public. Ideal Candidate The traveling public. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. May require Technician Training Certification Program (TTCP) certificates within one year of hire to include but not limited to; Nuclear Densometer, Concrete Field and Lab Testing, and Aggregate, Soils, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), Traffic Control, SWPPP, Inertial Profiler Inspector and Drilled Shaft Inspector. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office and/or field in varying weather conditions - hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow, exposure to sunlight, dust, and pollen. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, inclement weather, construction equipment and high-speed traffic. Work with nuclear devices; heights and confined spaces. toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, rough/rugged terrain, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to hazardous chemicals, insects and reptiles, loud noises, stressful situations; subject to falls and bruises, subject to irregular hours day or night, call out for emergencies and frequent temporary assignments that require travel and extended overnight stays away from post of duty; extended hours and occasional travel.
Heavy lifting:
