Job Description

Electron Microscopy Technologies (EMT) is the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality instrumentation and software for imaging and analysis in TEM and SEM applications. The Gatan and EDAX names are recognized and respected throughout the worldwide scientific community and has been synonymous with high quality products and the industry's leading technology. Gatan is looking for an Electromechanical technician who will be responsible for manufacture and repair of electronic and imaging systems.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Factory manufacture and repair precision instruments. High proficiency in mechanical disassembly, assembly, alignment, and adjustment of precision components. High attention to detail Solid understanding of basic electronics. Ensure newly manufactured and repaired systems meet operating specifications. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and work cooperatively and jointly with all departments. Ability to work with small precision components. Read and interpret schematics and drawings Solder and do rework on assemblies Propose design enhancements and improvements. Communicate clearly with various departments regarding pertinent issues Troubleshooting and maintenance support for Gatan products. Schedule and document performed work.

Enthusiastic attitude with a strong work ethic Excellent communication skills This person must be organized, detail oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize, execute plans to meet deadlines and be a flexible team player Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation. Use precision test equipment. Read and interpret schematics and drawings Communicate clearly with various departments regarding pertinent issues Excellent oral and written communications skills as well as refined analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to accept directions and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read work instructions and procedures in English Ability to follow written instructions in English Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
At least 3-5 years related technical and/or industry experience with a strong mechanical aptitude. May lead and/or participate in functional training and/or mentoring of others Previous experience in a manufacturing/service environment preferred
