Job Description

A Millwork Service Technician in a retail lumber environment serves as a hands-on expert responsible for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting custom and stock millwork products—primarily doors, windows, trim, and molding—for residential and commercial customers. This role acts as a bridge between the lumber yard and the jobsite, ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction through skilled craftsmanship.
Core Responsibilities Field Installation & Service:
Install and repair interior/exterior doors, window glass inserts, sliding glass doors, moldings, and stair parts at customer jobsites.
Quality Control & Troubleshooting:
Evaluate finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards before, during, and after installation. Troubleshoot on-site issues with minimal supervision.
Customer Service & Communication:
Act as a liaison between the lumber yard and contractors or homeowners. Provide professional consultation on product installation.
Technical Assistance:
Read blueprints, shop drawings, and technical manuals to ensure proper assembly, customization, and installation.
Inventory & Paperwork:
Maintain inventory of service materials and complete required daily paperwork or reports.
Tools & Machinery:
Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, routers).
Measurement Accuracy:
Strong math skills for precise measurements and cutting.
Customer Skills:
Ability to interact professionally with builders, homeowners, and contractors.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 80 lbs. (up to 150 lbs. with assistance), and stand, bend, or climb for extended periods, ladder work.
Requirements:
Valid driver's license, clean motor vehicle record (MVR), and ability to pass a background check/drug screen.
