Sewer Installation Technician

GENERAL JOB

DESCRIPTIONAssist the Collection Systems Supervisor in all aspects of the installation of sewer lines and grinder pumps. Direct subordinates during the installation of new sewer lines and grinder pump installations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works safely and points out safety hazards on job sites. Installation of new approved sewer extensions per design. Operates backhoe, skid steer and rock hammer attachment for backhoe. Operates and does preventative maintenance on small equipment and hand tools. Does simple preventative maintenance (greasing) of the backhoe and dump truck. Maintains adequate inventory of all material by notifying the Collection System Supervisor of all required parts orders. Assist with new grinder pump installations and other departments when needed. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School or GED, some college preferred 1 5 years previous experience in pipefitting; underground utility installation/construction preferred; ability to direct subordinates.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES

Valid TN Drivers License, CDL a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Walking and standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time (more with assistance)
