The selected candidate will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, programming, testing, and maintaining security and low-voltage systems at customer locations. This role supports both existing customer systems and new installations while delivering exceptional customer service and technical support. Summary The Security & Low Voltage Service Technician performs service, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of structured cabling, access control, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, audio/visual, and other low voltage systems. This position works independently and collaboratively with project teams to ensure customer satisfaction, system functionality, and timely project completion. Responsibilities Install, service, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and program security and low-voltage systems. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and identify equipment deficiencies or failures. Install and terminate structured cabling including Cat5e, Cat6/6a, fiber optic, and related cabling systems. Set up, terminate, label, and test network racks, patch panels, cable trays, and associated equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and engineering specifications. Prepare for on-site work by evaluating job requirements, gathering materials, and coordinating schedules. Troubleshoot system issues using hand tools, testing equipment, and laptop computers. Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, punch lists, inspection forms, and as-built documentation. Support project teams and SLV technicians by providing field assistance and technical expertise. Coordinate with customers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure successful project execution. Determine parts, materials, and equipment needed for repairs and service calls. Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company as a direct customer contact. Work independently, as part of a team, or as a team lead, depending on project scope and experience level. Comply with company safety standards, job site requirements, and applicable industry codes and regulations. Travel locally and remotely as required to support customer sites and projects. Participate in after-hours, emergency, or on-call service work when required. Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and basic computer networking. Ability to work on construction sites and occupied customer facilities. Ability to climb ladders and lift/carry up to 75 pounds. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Ability to pass background and drug screening requirements. Ability to work flexible schedules, including after-hours service when needed. Professional appearance and strong organizational skills. Preferred Experience & Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade school, technical certifications, or military electronics training preferred. 3+ years of experience installing or servicing security and low-voltage systems preferred. Experience with access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, structured cabling, and networking systems preferred. Industry certifications such as BICSI, manufacturer certifications, OSHA, or other recognized low-voltage/security certifications are preferred. Manufacturer certifications desired from the following: Software House, Genetec, Avigilon, Brivo, Axis, Milestone, Hanwha, etc.
