Available Help for . Job Summary FS Builder Resources is seeking a hands-on Service Technician to support our growing lighting business. This position is responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and completing warranty-related work for lighting fixtures in new home construction and residential settings. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, providing excellent customer service, and working independently in the field. The Service Technician will partner with homeowners, builders, subcontractors, supervisors, and internal teams to ensure lighting service requests and installations are completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with company and builder standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, adjust, repair, replace, and troubleshoot residential lighting fixtures. Evaluate homeowner service or warranty concerns related to lighting fixtures and determine the appropriate next steps. Complete lighting-related service work in accordance with company standards, builder requirements, safety practices, and applicable compliance expectations. Review and process written, electronic, or verbal work orders from supervisors and internal teams. Coordinate with subcontractors, supervisors, builders, homeowners, and internal team members to complete assigned service and warranty work. Verify that warranty work is completed accurately, professionally, and within required timelines. Follow up with homeowners and builders to ensure service concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner. Document completed work using company systems, smartphones, tablets, laptops, or service applications. Maintain positive working relationships with homeowners, builders, subcontractors, and team members. Process service documentation, charge-back information, invoices, photos, and related paperwork as needed. Travel between assigned communities, homes, and job sites as needed. Maintain tools, supplies, equipment, and company materials in an organized and professional manner. Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner that supports customer satisfaction and company goodwill. Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Required Skills and Abilities Hands-on experience with lighting fixture installation, service, repair, or related residential construction work. Basic knowledge of electrical safety practices and the ability to identify when work should be escalated to a licensed electrician or supervisor. Ability to troubleshoot lighting-related issues and determine appropriate repair or replacement steps. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, subcontractors, supervisors, and internal team members. Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and remain productive with limited supervision. Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow a systematic approach when completing assignments. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations. Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, mobile applications, and service-related technology. Ability to use smartphones, tablets, or laptops to document service work, upload photos, and manage work orders. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation capable of carrying tools, materials, and supplies. Ability to travel between designated communities and job sites during daytime and nighttime hours. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Three or more years of related service, installation, warranty, construction, or repair experience preferred. Experience installing or servicing lighting fixtures strongly preferred. Experience in residential construction, builder services, warranty repair, or field service preferred. Prior customer service experience preferred. Basic electrical knowledge preferred. Experience with hand tools, power tools, ladders, and field service applications preferred. Physical Demands Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and use hands and arms to complete installation and service work. Must be comfortable working on ladders and using tools to install, adjust, or service lighting fixtures. May be required to work in occupied homes, new construction environments, job sites, and varying weather conditions. Must be able to operate hand tools, power tools, mobile devices, and standard office equipment. Must be able to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds in person, over the phone, and on job sites. Must be able to travel to and from assigned communities and work locations.
