The office is located in Marshall, VA and the service area is Northern VA, Eastern WV, Suburban MD and DC. Occasional travel outside the area to areas like Richmond, Charlottesville, The Eastern Shore, etc. Is needed for specific customers. We are seeking a well rounded and extremely skilled Generator and Equipment Service Technician to join our professional team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of generators and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly, providing essential support for various residential, commercial, industrial and construction applications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical, electrical, and technical skills in a fast-paced environment where safety, quality, and customer satisfaction are top priorities. Responsibilities Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on generators, including natural gas/ propane and diesel engine repair and electrical troubleshooting using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance on equipment such as power tools, equipment and machinery, and vehicle systems to prevent breakdowns and extend service life. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other specialized tools to execute repairs accurately and efficiently. Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Repair components related to equipment and generator systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Assist with customer service by explaining repair procedures, providing updates on work progress, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Perform heavy lifting safely when handling large components or equipment during installation or repairs. Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document all work performed for quality assurance purposes. Support sales efforts by recommending upgrades or additional services that enhance equipment performance or longevity when appropriate. Experience Proven, documented experience with power generation, industrial and construction equipment. Extensive hands-on experience in diesel engine repair, electronic repair, and machinery maintenance. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience; familiarity with schematics is highly desirable. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering devices, and other maintenance tools safely and effectively. Experience working with Kohler, Cummins, Generac and similar equipment is a requirement. Demonstrated ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately for troubleshooting purposes. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and communication. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting while maintaining safety standards. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Automotive service experience is a plus. Electrical and installation experience a plus.
