Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Small Engine Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and be proficient in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various small engines and related equipment. Service Technicians will inspect, test, adjust engines, perform routine maintenance such as tune-ups and oil changes, and replace worn or damaged parts. They will also be able to conduct troubleshooting techniques on electrical and fuel systems. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who is passionate about providing excellent service work to customers and enjoys working with power tools and has a solid understanding of electrical systems. Experience in a dealership setting is preferred but not mandatory. Pay based on experience.
Responsibilities Diagnose & Repair:
Identifying and repairing malfunctions in outdoor power equipment and power sport components such as engines, electrical systems, and fuel systems using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and troubleshooting techniques. Perform routine maintenance services such as, but not limited to, oil changes, tune-ups, and replacing parts like spark plugs, filters, belts, and blades.
Component Replacement:
Removing and replacing defective or worn parts, such as, but not limited to, magnetos, pumps, gears, pistons, and carburators.
Record Keeping:
Maintain and ensure accurate documentation of repairs, parts used, and time spent on each job.
Safety:
Following safety procedures and policies and using protective equipment when working with machinery and hazardous materials. This also includes maintaining a clean and organized workplace. Provide excellent customer service by assisting with sales inquiries and educating customers on equipment usage and maintenance. Collaborate with team members to enhance overall service quality and efficiency. Requirements Proven experience as a small engine/ outdoor power equipment service technician or mechanic. Strong understanding of small engines, their electrical systems, fuel systems, and operation of outdoor power equipment and powersports. Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to diagnose problems using diagnostic tools and by observing and troubleshooting equipment operation and function is desired. Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic tools following proper training. Basic electrical skills including soldering and wiring are highly desirable. Previous experience in a dealership setting is a plus but not required. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Understand the basic operation of the dealer management software following proper training and utilizing email to communicate with the team. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. A valid driver's license may be required for certain duties.
Physical Requirements:
