GTI Power Systems Lead Industrial Generator Technician Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Field Lead Generator Service Technician to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for delivering expert on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for a wide range of power generation equipment. Your hands-on expertise will ensure our customers' generators operate reliably and efficiently, supporting critical operations across various industries. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced equipment, develop your technical skills, and provide exceptional customer service in the field. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on generators and associated equipment at customer sites. Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues using schematics and technical manuals. Repair diesel engines, electrical components, and mechanical systems utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques. Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot electrical wiring and control systems effectively. Conduct heavy lifting and physical tasks required to service large generator units safely and efficiently. Communicate clearly with customers regarding service needs, repairs performed, and maintenance recommendations. Maintain detailed service records, reports, and documentation for each job performed in compliance with company standards. Skills Proven dealership or service technician experience with generator or heavy equipment repair. Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in diesel engine repair and automotive repair fundamentals. Proficiency in reading schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals. Hands-on experience with electrical systems, soldering, welding, and equipment repair techniques. Familiarity with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery brands is a plus. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various outdoor environments. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices related to service vehicles used in field operations. Experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools effectively.
