Full-Time / Contract (as applicable) Position Summary The Satellite Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of satellite communication systems across remote and urban locations in Alaska. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, self-sufficiency, and the ability to work in extreme weather and isolated environments. The technician will support critical communications infrastructure for residential, commercial, and government clients. Key Responsibilities Install, align, and commission satellite communication systems (VSAT, LEO/MEO systems, and associated hardware) Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on satellite terminals, antennas, and network equipment Diagnose RF signal issues using spectrum analyzers and other test equipment Run and terminate coaxial, fiber optic, and Ethernet cabling Configure and support network devices (modems, routers, switches, firewalls) Complete service tickets, documentation, and reporting accurately and on time Travel to remote sites via truck, ATV, snowmachine, boat, or small aircraft as required Work independently in off-grid environments with minimal supervision Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA and company-specific policies Provide customer support and training during installations and service calls Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical degree or certification preferred) 2+ years of experience in satellite communications, telecommunications, or related field Working knowledge of RF theory and satellite systems Experience with VSAT systems (e.g., Hughes, iDirect, Starlink, or similar platforms) Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics Valid driver's license and clean driving record Ability to pass background check and drug screening Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as ETA, CompTIA Network+, or manufacturer-specific satellite certifications Experience working in Alaska or other remote/arctic environments Knowledge of IP networking and basic cybersecurity principles Battery plant installation experience Experience with off-grid power solutions Work Environment & Physical Requirements Frequent travel to remote and rural locations throughout Alaska Work in extreme weather conditions including cold temperatures, snow, wind, and limited daylight Ability to lift and carry 50-75 lbs regularly Climb ladders, towers, and work at heights Extended workdays and on-call rotations may be required Overnight stays in remote lodging or field camps Compensation & Benefits (optional section — adjust as needed) Compensation depends on experience Per diem for travel and remote assignments Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement Tools, PPE, and specialized equipment providedPay:
