Full Job Description Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience, strong technical knowledge, and a commitment to safety and quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment including fiber optics, cabling, and network systems Diagnose and resolve issues related to voice, data, and network connectivity Perform routine maintenance and system upgrades Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies Collaborate with team members, contractors, and clients to complete projects efficiently Document work performed, including service reports and system updates
Minimum Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in telecommunications or a related field Strong understanding of telecom systems, cabling standards, and network infrastructure Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical issues independently Familiarity with tools and equipment used in telecom installation and maintenance Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate of a DIR accredited telecommunications apprenticeship program Experience with fiber splicing, testing, and certification Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., BICSI, OSHA safety practices) Certifications in telecommunications or networking (e.g., CompTIA Network+, BICSI)
