Job Description
IDM is looking to hire a CADD Technician for a confidential aviation IT infrastructure documentation project. The selected candidate will support field surveys, asset documentation, technical drawing updates, red-line review, photo documentation, and preparation of professional CADD drawing packages. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented drafting professional with experience in AutoCAD, infrastructure documentation, telecommunications drawings, IT systems layouts, and field survey support. The role requires both office-based drafting work and field-based documentation activities. Key Responsibilities Review existing drawings, red-lines, sketches, and technical documentation. Conduct on-site field surveys to verify existing IT infrastructure and related systems. Take detailed field photos of IT rooms, telecom enclosures, equipment, pathways, cabinets, and related infrastructure. Label, organize, and maintain field photo documentation. Prepare and update professional CADD drawing packages based on field surveys, sketches, red-lines, and existing documentation. Create and revise maps, site plans, floor plans, cabinet elevations, wiring diagrams, system diagrams, risers, schematics, and presentation layouts. Prepare IT infrastructure schedules, equipment schedules, cable schedules, and related spreadsheet documentation. Support WireCAD spreadsheet preparation and related documentation tasks. Document field equipment, backbone fiber optic risers, horizontal cable risers, IT systems risers, and electrical-related IT infrastructure. Maintain accurate records and drawing revisions. Work closely with technical and project teams to ensure drawings reflect field conditions. Follow all safety, confidentiality, and secure-information handling requirements. Required Skills and Experience Experience using AutoCAD 2023 or newer. Experience creating and updating technical drawings for IT, telecommunications, low-voltage, electrical, or infrastructure systems. Ability to read and interpret drawings, red-lines, sketches, symbols, floor plans, and technical layouts. Strong documentation skills using Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with Windows operating systems. Knowledge of drafting standards, symbols, and drawing package organization. Ability to work independently and follow technical instructions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform field survey work in an active aviation environment. Ability to walk extended distances during surveys and carry basic survey equipment. Must be able to pass required background and access checks. Preferred Qualifications Two years of college coursework in engineering, CADD, telecommunications, or a related technical field. Two or more years of multi-disciplinary drafting experience. Equivalent drafting experience may be considered in place of formal education. Drafting or CADD certificates are a plus. Experience with telecom rooms, IT infrastructure, fiber/copper cabling, equipment cabinets, risers, and field documentation. Experience with WireCAD or similar documentation tools. Valid driver's license preferred. Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to work both indoors and outdoors. Ability to walk extended distances during field surveys. Ability to lift and carry approximately 25 lbs. of survey or documentation equipment. Must be able to use personal protective equipment when required, such as boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Work may take place in active operational environments with vehicles, mechanical equipment, electrical rooms, construction areas, noise, and public-facing spaces.
