Job Description

IDM is looking to hire a Wireless / Fluidmesh Field Engineer for a confidential aviation technology infrastructure project. The selected candidate will support wireless system testing, field validation, site surveys, radio verification, performance testing, and technical documentation. This role requires hands-on experience with wireless access points, wireless controllers, site survey tools, Fluidmesh radio systems, and field-based network validation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an active aviation environment, performing inspections, documenting findings, and supporting technical testing activities in the field. Key Responsibilities Perform wireless access point installation verification against approved design and as-built documentation. Verify wireless access point onboarding status through wireless controller platforms. Conduct wireless site surveys using Ekahau or similar wireless survey tools. Create and review wireless heatmaps showing signal strength, coverage, and performance. Compare field survey results against predictive wireless designs. Measure wireless signal strength, bandwidth, and connectivity performance at designated test locations. Verify installation and alignment of Fluidmesh radios and related external antennas. Test and verify Fluidmesh radio connectivity, operating status, and monitoring access. Support wireless roaming and mobility testing across moving or mobile operational environments. Document testing results, field observations, deficiencies, and recommendations. Prepare technical reports, including wireless coverage results, radio status, roaming performance, and connectivity validation. Coordinate with technical teams to resolve field issues, connectivity concerns, and documentation gaps. Follow all safety, confidentiality, and secure-information handling requirements. Required Skills and Experience Experience performing wireless site surveys and field testing. Hands-on experience with Ekahau or similar wireless planning/survey tools. Working knowledge of wireless access points, wireless controllers, signal strength testing, and wireless performance validation. Familiarity with design drawings, as-built drawings, and field verification procedures. Working knowledge of Fluidmesh radios, Fluidmesh monitoring tools, and Fluidmesh Fluidity is strongly preferred. Ability to troubleshoot wireless connectivity and roaming issues. Strong documentation and reporting skills. Ability to work independently in the field and communicate findings clearly. Ability to work on-site in an active aviation environment. Must be able to pass required background and access checks. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting wireless systems in transportation, aviation, industrial, or large campus environments. Experience validating wireless coverage in complex infrastructure environments. Experience with radio alignment, antenna verification, and mobile connectivity testing. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce professional technical reports.
