% (all travel will be covered with per diem) to help deliver on their growing pipeline of projects (including a number of large scale data centers). They are seeking a group of dynamic and skilled Traveling Fiber Splicers to join their team and lead the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks across diverse locations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in the field, utilizing advanced tools and techniques to ensure reliable telecommunication infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality service, possess strong technical proficiency, and thrive in a mobile environment. As a Traveling Fiber Splicer, you will be instrumental in expanding our network capabilities while adhering to safety standards and engineering best practices. Duties Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables in various field environments using precision splicing equipment and diagnostic tools. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely to access elevated work sites, following all safety protocols outlined by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering diagrams to accurately execute cabling and network infrastructure projects. Use computer networking knowledge to troubleshoot issues related to LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage electrical systems. Conduct climbing activities on utility poles or structures while maintaining safety standards for electrical and construction work. Perform maintenance and repairs on telecommunication infrastructure, including cabling, power tools operation, and electrical components. Support technical troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing issues with fiber splicing, network connectivity, or electrical systems using specialized diagnostic tools. Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret schematics and technical drawings for complex cabling projects. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including splice maps, test results, and safety inspections. Qualifications Proven experience in field service operations within telecommunication or electrical industries with a focus on fiber splicing. Strong knowledge of fiber optic technology, cabling standards, and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely and efficiently in various outdoor environments. Proficiency with diagnostic tools used for testing fiber optic integrity and network troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with telecommunication systems including LAN, WAN, Ethernet, telephony, and low voltage electrical wiring. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting documents. Construction experience involving climbing utility poles or structures is highly desirable. Familiarity with computer networking concepts related to IT infrastructure support. Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively for cabling and electrical work. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to travel extensively between job sites as required.
