Job Description Our Air/Ground International Voice Service is the aeronautical industry's air/ground voice communications link for FAA control and communications for aircraft in the oceanic airspace. The service is backed by over 95 years of Collins Aerospace, Connected Aviation experience of providing communications solutions to the aviation market. ARINC's Radio Technology Solutions (RTS) group is looking for you to join our team in Lakewood, CA as a Senior Field Service Technician to support our Commercial Aviation and Network Services Division. In this role you will have the opportunity to work in an environment where customer service is held in the highest regard. What You Will Do Install, maintain, test, adjust, and repair a wide range of communication equipment, such as radio and antenna systems. Utilize test equipment as required to perform proper installation or repair. Interact with customers, vendors, and contractors independently and professionally in support of maintenance and installation activities. Provide on-the-job training to Associate Field Service Technicians. Provide 24/7 support, so you will be on-call after hours, on weekends and holidays. Approximately 75% travel will be required. Obtain an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL) within 6 months of being hired. Obtain and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badging for access to certain Federally regulated areas at multiple airports. This includes Security Threat Assessment (STA) and a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and SIDA training. Lift and carry fifty (50) pounds and climb towers and stepped poles up to fifty (50) feet in height. What You Will Learn How to support our nationwide Air-to-Ground voice and data networks and our custom communication solutions. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline. Must have a minimum of two years of practical electronics experience. Experience demonstrating hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Experience using logical fault isolation techniques to identify root cause of system issues. Prior experience in a field service, RF communications, industrial maintenance, avionics, military electronics, telecommunications, or any related hands-on technical role. Qualifications We Prefer Active FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL). Prior experience reading and following technical manuals/instructions and have a basic knowledge of how to read schematics and drawings. Completed a course in practical electronics at a technological school, junior college, or equivalent. Experience troubleshooting RF communication systems in live operational environments (airports, industrial sites, telecom, military, utilities, or similar). Experience working independently in remote or unsupervised field conditions, including root-cause analysis under time-sensitive or mission-critical situations.
