In this energetic and fast-paced position, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, and maintaining fiber optic cables, ensuring reliable telecommunication services. Your expertise in handling heavy equipment, climbing structures, and working with low voltage systems will help us build robust network infrastructure. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, utilize technical skills, and contribute to expanding our fiber optic network. Duties Install fiber optic drops from main distribution points to customer premises using bucket trucks and other heavy equipment. Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal transmission and network performance. Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment to prepare sites, run cabling, and secure infrastructure. Interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and wiring diagrams related to telecommunication and IT infrastructure projects. Climb poles or ladders safely to access overhead lines or underground vaults for cable installation or repairs. Conduct testing of fiber connections using specialized equipment to verify signal integrity and troubleshoot issues. Maintain detailed records of installations, splicing configurations, and network infrastructure updates in digital logs. Requirements Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunication cabling, fiber splicing, or network infrastructure installation. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, cranes, or other construction machinery safely and efficiently. Knowledge of telephony systems, LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet wiring, WAN (Wide Area Network), and low voltage electrical systems. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices, and schematics for troubleshooting and installations. Strong climbing ability with comfort working at heights on poles or ladders; safety harness certification is a plus. Construction experience with cabling, electrical work, or telecommunications preferred. Familiarity with computer networking concepts including schematics for network infrastructure setup. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
