Job Description
Aloha! One of Hawaii's telecom company's is seeking a Field Technician to join their team. The company is Hawaii's leading network integration company, specializing in the design, installation, and support of public safety-grade communications, security, and surveillance systems. They also deliver reliable, high-performance solutions for government, critical infrastructure, and enterprise clients. Specifically, this opportunity is linked to a lot of new work in the pipeline and is actually a need on not only on Oahu, but on Maui, Kauai, and Big Island as well.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of experience in telecommunications, wireless, or related field
- Experience with equipment installation, cabling, and grounding
- Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to travel up to 40% and work outdoors in various conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check and drug test Job Description The Field Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of communications and network equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test CAT5/CAT6 and fiber cabling (indoor/outdoor)
- Mount and install equipment racks, batteries, and network hardware
- Install and maintain transmission and switching equipment
- Perform site walkdowns, measurements, and documentation
- Troubleshoot and repair network and equipment issues
- Operate test equipment and record results
- Maintain proper labeling, inventory, and documentation
- Ensure safety and quality standards are met
- Drive and maintain company vehicles (including bucket trucks)
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and customers Majority of the above speak to being out doors a lot, but a recent meeting with the Hiring Manager made it seem that that it also consists of indoor work, such as "rack and stack" type work, setting up servers, routers/switches, so it's a good blend of telecom work + traditional networking.
- Daily driving and maintenance of company vehicles Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Wailuku, HI.
