Job Description

Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled OSP Technician III to join our dynamic team, dedicated to building and maintaining robust telecommunication infrastructure. In this role, you will primarily operate directional drilling equipment, specifically Vermeer and Ditch Witch drills, and construct aerial fiber infrastructure as we expand our outside plant (OSP) network. This position is ideal for a driven technician who wants to grow their career into fiber splicing, jetting, and OSP engineering. You'll work alongside experienced crews in the field, building the foundation of reliable connectivity for our customers while developing advanced technical skills that will shape your long-term career. Responsibilities Operate Vermeer and Ditch Witch directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently to install underground conduit and fiber pathways. Perform bore planning, locating, tracking, and mud mixing in accordance with job specifications and site conditions. Build aerial plant, including strand placement, lashing/overlashing, and installation of ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) cable. Assist with fiber jetting operations, pulling cable through conduit using air-assisted installation methods. Support fiber splicing crews and progressively develop hands-on splicing skills under the guidance of senior technicians. Read and interpret construction prints, KMZ files, and OSP design drawings to guide field installation. Climb poles safely using appropriate climbing techniques and fall protection equipment to access aerial telecommunications assets. Operate support equipment including bucket trucks, reel trailers, hydraulic tools, and hand tools used in OSP construction. Maintain accurate as-built records, daily production reports, and documentation of work performed. Collaborate with construction crews, engineers, and project managers to ensure quality and schedule targets are met. Follow all safety protocols, locate requirements (811), and traffic control standards while working in public rights-of-way. Experience & Qualifications Proven experience operating Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch directional drills (D18x22, D23x30, or similar class machines preferred). Experience building aerial plant, placing strand, lashing cable, and/or installing ADSS, is strongly preferred. Willingness and desire to develop expertise in fiber splicing, jetting, and OSP engineering; we will invest in training the right candidate. Ability to read construction prints and understand OSP design fundamentals. Comfortable with pole climbing, bucket truck operation, and working at heights with proper safety equipment. Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus. Prior experience in telecommunications, utility construction, or a related field-service role. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety-first practices. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to job sites as needed. Why Join Us If you work in Outside Plant and you thrive behind the controls of heavy equipment, but enjoy or want to build aerial plant, and want a clear path to grow into splicing, jetting, or engineering roles, this is the opportunity for you. fyberLogic invests in our team's development and reward technicians who bring initiative, craftsmanship, and a safety-first mindset to every job. Bring your drilling and aerial construction skills, and we'll help you build the rest of your career in fiber.
