Job Description
General Description:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable System Technician to join our team. This role supports the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Project 25 (P25) Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems used for mission‑critical communications. The technician will work alongside experienced technicians and engineers while learning industry best practices. We have positions opened in our Lexington, KY office, our Fishers, Indiana office as well as our Knoxville, TN location and is ideal for candidates looking to start a career in radio communications.Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation and setup of P25 radio equipment, including repeaters, base stations, dispatch consoles, mobile and portable radios, and antenna systems
- Support troubleshooting of basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues under supervision
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and system checks
- Help maintain system documentation, logs, and databases
- Assist with RF testing, basic coverage checks, and equipment verification
- Support site surveys and preparation for equipment placement and cabling
- Work with senior technicians, engineers, and project managers on assigned tasks
- Follow safety procedures and company standards while working in the field
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Information Technology, Network Systems, Vocational Schooling in electronics or equivalent military training and hands‑on experience will be considered.
Experience:
- 0-2 years of related technical experience (internships, labs, or technical coursework acceptable)
- Entry‑level candidates with strong interest in radio communications are encouraged to apply
Skills & Abilities:
- Basic understanding of electronics, networking, or RF concepts
- Ability to learn how to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Willingness to learn test equipment such as multimeters and service monitors
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions
- Good communication skills and ability to work well on a team
- Valid driver's license
Physical & Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors and at remote sites
- Willingness to travel as required
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening Preferred (Not Required):
- Exposure to land mobile radio systems or public safety communications
- Basic networking or RF coursework
- Interest in long‑term career growth in communications or systems support
