Position Summary The Night Shift Data Technician is responsible for supporting the All-Electronic Tolling (AET) system along the Turnpike through installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system health monitoring during off-peak hours. This role ensures tolling infrastructure operates at peak performance 24/7 while delivering reliable, high-quality field support. We are seeking a technically inclined, self-motivated individual with strong critical thinking skills and a commitment to service excellence. Prior low-voltage or field technician experience is preferred but not required. Key Responsibilities Monitor tolling system equipment to ensure performance meets operational specifications. Perform installations, preventive maintenance, and break-fix repairs on electronic and mechanical components. Conduct routine inspections, including weekly site walkthroughs and scheduled maintenance checks. Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently to minimize downtime. Maintain compliance with client agreements, standards, and scope of work requirements. Communicate effectively with Manager, Scheduling, and Operations teams regarding system status and field activity. Support overnight lane closures and installations as required. Operate equipment such as bucket trucks in accordance with safety protocols. Job Functions Overview Field Technicians are responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of the AET system by: Performing bi-annual preventive maintenance on gantry equipment Conducting recurring site visits and system health checks Troubleshooting and repairing electronic and mechanical failures Ensuring continuous system uptime across all tolling locations Required Qualifications Valid driver's license Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Information Technology (Installation & Configuration) Digital Signage Systems Audio/Video Systems Consumer Electronics 12-Volt Electrical Systems Proficiency with hand tools and diagnostic/test equipment Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated customer service mindset and professionalism. Organized, self-starter with strong attention to detail. Preferred Skills Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams. Basic computing and smartphone proficiency for reporting and diagnostics Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities. Experience training or mentoring others in technical environments. Low-voltage systems experience (preferred, not required) Physical Requirements Ability to walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout shift. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions Ability to work overnight shifts and support highway operations. Capability to operate a bucket truck during highway closures.
