Pay Tel is seeking skilled individuals who embody our core values: humble, compassionate, solution-oriented, transparent and Accountable Job Summary The Installation Technician 1 is responsible for supporting the execution and completion of installation projects within the telecommunications industry. Under the guidance of senior technicians or supervision, this role ensures that contract specifications and technical requirements are met for the installation of equipment at client sites, primarily within confinement facilities. This is an entry-to-mid-level role designed for individuals building foundational skills in telecommunications installation and field operations. Primary Responsibilities Assist with site surveys and collect field verification data for installation projects, including evaluating site logistics and determining equipment, staffing, and coordination requirements with support from senior team members. Review installation requirements with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment prior to project execution. Complete site walkthroughs and prepare build orders using approved documentation in advance of scheduled installation dates. Document and communicate all relevant project information and maintain complete project files in accordance with company standards. Perform equipment installations for new and existing clients based on the approved installation schedule, including mounting equipment, running and bending conduit or wire mold, pulling Cat6 cabling, and installing switches, access points (APs), racks, and shelving. Troubleshoot and diagnose basic equipment issues as needed and respond to and update trouble tickets using the approved ticketing system, escalating complex issues to senior technicians as appropriate. Maintain the company vehicle in safe, fully operational condition in accordance with the Vehicle Service and Maintenance policy; track travel and vehicle-related expenses using approved software; and safely tow and operate trailers when required. Key Accountabilities Understand and adhere to the defined scope of work for each project, ensuring quality workmanship and accurate documentation throughout the installation process. Meet key project deliverables and timelines for all assigned installations. Maintain clear and timely communication with supervisors and team members regarding project status, questions, scope changes, and potential delays. Follow established safety protocols to ensure the safety of Pay Tel technicians and subcontractors during on-site installation activities. Demonstrate sound judgment and integrity in protecting company assets and equipment. Maintain professional working relationships with facility personnel and Pay Tel team members at all times. Education and Experience Education High school diploma or equivalent required Technical training or coursework in telecommunications installation procedures preferred Experience 1-3 years of experience installing, maintaining, or testing telecommunications equipment preferred; relevant technical training or internship experience will be considered Required Skills, Abilities, Licenses, and Certifications Foundational knowledge of telephone equipment installation, maintenance, and testing procedures Basic ability to read and interpret architectural drawings with guidance Intermediate proficiency with tools and equipment, including drills, drivers, ladders, scissor lifts, single-man lifts, amp tools, and related installation equipment Working knowledge of structured cabling, Cat6 color codes, relay switches, and rack-mounted equipment Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Strong verbal and written communication skills Willingness to learn troubleshooting techniques and develop problem-solving abilities Valid driver's license required Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Physical Requirements Ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive for extended distances Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Ability to lift and carry at least 85 pounds Working Environment Work performed indoors, outdoors, and from a company vehicle Work environment includes confinement facilities and must comply with facility regulations Approximately 75% travel, including overnight stays as needed Occasional evening and weekend work to meet project deadlines
