Job Description

For 30 years, SBi has served the communications needs of underserved rural communities and tribal lands in the southwest. Our cellular division, Cellular One, is a leading regional provider of mobile technology and wireless communications service operating a network of more than 240 cell sites covering 60,000 square miles. Your Mission As a Field Tech Engineer II in Farmington, NM, you keep Cellular One's network running strong across a wide territory. When alarms hit, you're the one who restores service fast and safely. This is a hands-on, onsite role supporting a large group of network elements through disciplined maintenance, smart troubleshooting, and precise installs. Key responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance on cell site, microwave, DC power, and related equipment; installation to company standards; upgrades/expansions; drive/call testing; responding to dispatches/alarms and supporting network restoration (including generator hookups during outages); documenting work in ticketing/PM systems; coordinating with vendors and field teammates; assisting with disaster recovery; and mentoring on procedures when needed.
Qualifications:
2-4 year electronics degree/certification (or military equivalent) or verifiable wireless-carrier experience 2+ years verifiable wireless carrier experience Strong telecom systems knowledge (microwave, fiber, backhaul, DC power) Skilled with electronic test equipment; solid PC/software skills Valid driver's license/clean driving record; able to work on-call and some weekends Ready to chase the next challenge? . On-the-Ground Action Your day starts with a quick scan of open tickets and site status, then it's out to the field—sometimes under blue skies, sometimes in rough weather—moving between remote locations with a clear plan and the right tools. You'll balance scheduled work with the adrenaline spike of urgent alarms, shifting gears quickly while staying locked in on safety. Between sites, you'll coordinate by phone with teammates, engineering, and vendors, then wrap up by updating records and lining up parts so tomorrow's run is even smoother. Expect a Monday-Friday rhythm with some weekends and on-call moments that keep the pace thrilling.
