Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team as a contractor. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of telecommunication systems and network infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure seamless communication services for our clients, supporting their operational needs with precision and professionalism. Responsibilities Install, configure, and troubleshoot telecommunication systems including VoIP, Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and Avaya telephony systems Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using hand tools and power tools to establish reliable data connections Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations and repairs Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues, perform maintenance, and repair network hardware and telecommunication equipment in various settings such as data centers or client sites Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and low voltage wiring regulations during all installation activities Test network connectivity using tools such as ohmmeters and network analyzers; troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues promptly Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including service reports, schematics updates, and incident logs Experience Proven experience as a service technician or field technician specializing in telecommunications or IT infrastructure Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and cabling standards such as Cat5, Cat6 cables Familiarity with computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN configurations, Ethernet protocols, and network security fundamentals Knowledge of telephony systems like VoIP solutions and traditional PBX systems such as Avaya or similar platforms Ability to operate hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers), power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively Previous work in data centers or large-scale network environments preferred Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members Join us as a Telecommunications Technician Contractor to leverage your technical expertise while delivering outstanding service!
