Job Description
Job Overview Plush Intentions is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Field Service Technician to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of telecommunications and networking equipment at client sites. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of our clients' systems, contributing directly to their operational success. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in diverse environments, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and deliver exceptional customer service with enthusiasm and professionalism. Duties Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including Ethernet, Cat5, Cat6 cabling, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and VoIP telephony systems. Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks to establish reliable high-speed data connections in various settings such as data centers and telecommunication facilities. Conduct routine maintenance, equipment repairs, and system upgrades on telecommunication hardware and computer networking devices. Read schematics and technical diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. Utilize hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other specialized equipment to complete installation and repair tasks efficiently. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance procedures. Document all service activities thoroughly in reports, including system configurations, repairs performed, and recommendations for future improvements. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician or in a related field within telecommunications or IT environments. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, network installation, Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and low voltage wiring standards following NEC guidelines. Hands-on experience with CCTV systems, fiber splicing, telephony (including Avaya systems), and network equipment such as Cisco and Juniper routers. Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, power tools, testing equipment like ohmmeters, and safety protocols for electrical work. Ability to interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical clients. Physical ability to perform installation tasks that may require climbing ladders or working in confined spaces for extended periods. Relevant certifications or training in telecommunications, networking (LAN/WAN), or electrical systems are preferred but not mandatory. Requirements Required Tools & Ladder — Technicians must own all standard hand tools and a functional ladder. Applicants without their own tools or ladder will not be considered for dispatch. Punctuality Standards — Must consistently arrive on time for every scheduled work order. Chronic lateness results in immediate removal from the roster. Independent Work Ability — Must be able to work alone , complete tasks without supervision, and manage time effectively. Micromanagement is not provided. Instruction Compliance — Must be able to follow detailed instructions provided over the phone and in written form. Failure to follow directions is grounds for reassignment. Printer Access — Must have reliable access to a printer for printing work orders, instructions, and documentation. Reliable Vehicle — Must have a dependable vehicle capable of traveling to multiple work orders per day. Breakdowns or transportation issues cannot interfere with assignments. Field Experience Required — Prior field‑service experience is mandatory . Applicants without verifiable experience will not be considered. Disqualifiers No Tools or Ladder — Applicants who do not personally own the required hand tools and a functional ladder are immediately disqualified . Unreliable Transportation — Lack of a dependable vehicle capable of traveling to multiple work orders per day results in automatic rejection . No Printer Access — Applicants without reliable access to a printer for work orders and documentation will not be considered . Lack of Field Experience — Applicants without verifiable prior field‑service experience are not eligible for dispatch. Inability to Work Independently — Anyone requiring micromanagement, constant supervision, or step‑by‑step oversight is not a fit for this role. Poor Punctuality History — A record of lateness, missed appointments, or unreliable attendance is grounds for immediate disqualification . Cannot Follow Instructions — Applicants who cannot follow detailed instructions over the phone or in written form will not be dispatched . Communication Issues — Failure to respond promptly, professionally, or clearly during onboarding or scheduling results in removal from consideration . Pay:
