:: Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per PandP 40-40. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances. : The Engineering Technician I/II is the primary source of information regarding environmental monitoring duties for the department as well as providing assistance to landfill operations. The Engineering Technician I/II is responsible for collecting and maintaining field monitoring records as well as maintaining monitoring devices in working order. This position will monitor operating performance of landfill gas systems, groundwater monitoring pumps, leachate, surface water and landfill gas for analysis consistent with permit requirements. Maintain records consistent with permit requirements for reporting to regulatory agencies. Perform refuse inspections and interact with customers regarding waste acceptance policies and will provide support to the Engineering Department for maintaining special waste acceptance programs. : Must Possess And/or Obtain Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Certification within six (6) months of hire. Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Waste Screening at Municipal Solid Waste Management Facilities Inspector Certification within six (6) months of hire.
