Full Time Position Overview Kiewit is seeking experienced Fiber Field Engineers to support the execution of large-scale fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality installation, accurate documentation, and seamless coordination between field teams and project leadership.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on field experience in fiber construction environments, with a strong understanding of fiber systems, installation standards, and construction workflows. This is a high-visibility role that works closely with superintendents, project engineers, and project managers to drive productivity, quality, and successful project delivery.

Location This role is based in Abilene, Texas. Responsibilities Field Execution & Coordination Support day-to-day fiber installation activities in active construction environments
Coordinate directly with field supervision, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure alignment and execution of work plans
Monitor and track production progress, identifying risks or delays and communicating updates to leadership Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Perform and support QA/QC inspections to ensure work meets project specifications, standards, and client requirements
Verify installation of fiber infrastructure including pathways, cabinets, patch panels, splice enclosures, and labeling systems
Assist in resolving field issues and ensuring corrective actions are implemented Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate redline drawings and markups reflecting field changes
Support development of as-built documentation and turnover packages
Track and maintain project logs including production reports, installation status, and issue tracking Project Engineering Support Assist with RFIs, submittals, and coordination with design teams
Track and manage material deliveries, usage, and inventory to ensure project continuity
Support field engineering efforts in planning, sequencing, and execution
Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience in field engineering or construction support (telecommunications/fiber preferred)
Hands-on experience with fiber installation projects in field construction environments
Strong understanding of fiber optic systems and infrastructure including: Pathways and duct banks
Fiber cabinets and enclosures
Patch panels and splicing
Labeling and documentation standards Experience supporting: QA/QC inspections
Redline markups and as-built documentation
Production tracking and reporting
RFIs, submittals, and material tracking Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in fast-paced, field-driven environments Preferred Experience on large-scale telecom, data center, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and BIM tools
Exposure to design-build or EPC project environments
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) #LI-KS23 Other Requirements:
