We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Fiber Splicer to join our dynamic telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, and maintaining fiber optic cables to ensure high-quality data transmission and network reliability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills in fiber optics, telecommunication infrastructure, and construction while supporting essential IT and network systems. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, safety-conscious, and ready to contribute to building robust communication networks. Duties Perform fiber optic cable splicing using industry-standard techniques and diagnostic tools to ensure optimal signal quality. Assist with the installation and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructure, including cabling, wiring, and network equipment. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely in accordance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides related to fiber optic and electrical systems. Climb poles or structures as needed for cable installation or repair, adhering to safety protocols for working at heights. Use computer networking knowledge to support WAN (Wide Area Network), LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, and low voltage electrical systems. Support construction projects by assisting with cabling, electrical connections, and troubleshooting network infrastructure issues. Conduct routine inspections using diagnostic tools to identify issues within fiber optic or electrical systems and support technical troubleshooting efforts. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including shift logs, incident reports, and asset protection documentation. Experience Prior experience or training in field service operations related to telecommunication or electrical systems is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as bucket trucks or power tools is a plus. Basic understanding of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN, WAN, telephony, and IT infrastructure is advantageous. Knowledge of schematics, technical drawings, or construction plans related to fiber optics or electrical wiring is desirable. Experience working in construction environments or with low voltage electrical systems will support success in this role. Strong safety awareness aligned with industry standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Ability to interpret technical troubleshooting support documents and assist in engineering troubleshooting processes. Join us in building the future of connectivity!
