In this role, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables to ensure high-quality data transmission and reliable network infrastructure. Your expertise will help connect communities, support IT infrastructure, and enable seamless communication across various platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with heavy equipment, utilize advanced hand tools, and contribute to essential telecommunication projects in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform fiber optic splicing using specialized tools and techniques to ensure optimal signal quality and minimal loss Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other construction machinery safely and efficiently during installation and maintenance tasks Install, repair, and troubleshoot cabling for telecommunication systems, including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, WAN (Wide Area Network), and telephony infrastructure Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and network layouts to accurately execute installation plans Climb poles, towers, or structures while adhering to safety protocols for low voltage electrical work and telecommunications standards Use hand tools and power tools to prepare cables, connectors, and related hardware for splicing or installation Collaborate with team members on project sites to ensure timely completion of tasks while maintaining safety standards Skills Proven experience in field service operations involving telecommunication systems or related construction projects Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and fiber optic cabling standards Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely in various environments Familiarity with computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN, WAN, switches, routers, and network infrastructure components Skilled in reading schematics, technical diagrams, and electrical wiring plans for telecommunications projects Ability to use and understand an OTDR Proficient in using fusion splicing machines. (Single + Ribbon) Proficient in using hand tools (e.g., cutters, strippers) and power tools necessary for cable preparation and installation Knowledge of IT infrastructure components relevant to telecommunication networks Ability to troubleshoot network issues related to fiber optics or cabling systems efficiently This role is perfect for motivated professionals eager to advance their careers in telecommunications.
