Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician 1 to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of telecommunication systems and related hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in computer networking, electrical systems, and field service experience. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with technical expertise in low voltage systems, security solutions, and construction-related telecommunications projects to contribute to critical infrastructure and security systems across diverse environments. Duties Install, configure, and maintain telecommunication systems including CCTV, fire alarms, security systems, sensors, and surveillance equipment. Perform cabling and wiring tasks using power tools, hand tools, and schematics to ensure proper system integration. Conduct system design assessments and troubleshoot issues related to computer hardware, network connectivity, remote access software, IDS, and alarm systems. Test and verify system functionality through the use of schematics, testing tools, and diagnostic equipment. Support field service operations by diagnosing technical problems on-site and providing effective solutions promptly. Assist with construction activities related to telecommunication infrastructure projects. Engage in service technician responsibilities such as system upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Collaborate with team members on security system sales support and installation planning. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed using technical manuals and schematics for future reference. Requirements Proven experience with computer networking, low voltage wiring, cabling, and electrical systems. Mechanical knowledge related to construction practices and the use of power tools and hand tools. Prior field service experience working with CCTV, sensors, fire alarms, surveillance systems, security systems, and alarm system sales. Familiarity with system design principles including schematics interpretation and installation procedures. Knowledge of NEC standards for electrical installations and NEC-compliant wiring practices. Experience working with remote access software for troubleshooting networked devices remotely. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently on complex telecommunication systems. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients and team members on-site. Relevant certifications or training in security systems, locksmithing, or telecommunication is preferred but not mandatory. This position is ideal for technicians seeking to expand their expertise in security technology, surveillance systems, electrical wiring, and telecommunications infrastructure within a dynamic environment that values technical proficiency and professional growth.
