Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic Telecommunications Technician to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of telecommunications systems and equipment, with a significant focus on tower climbing and working with equipment at heights. Your expertise will ensure seamless communication networks, supporting our operations with reliable voice, data, and video services. Duties Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment including Mikrotik devices, Cambium Networks microwave, alarming devices to ensure optimal network performance. Perform tower climbing activities to install, maintain, and repair antennas, transmission lines, and other equipment at significant heights. Conduct cabling work using hand tools and power tools to establish robust data and voice connections across various sites, including elevated positions. Troubleshoot and repair telecommunication hardware such as switches, routers, PTP, and PTMP systems, CCTV cameras, and related equipment using schematics and technical manuals. Perform network installation tasks involving Ethernet cabling (Cat5, Cat6), LAN setup, low voltage wiring, often requiring work at heights. Assist with data center operations by managing network hardware, performing equipment repairs, and ensuring proper power distribution. Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues on-site, perform routine maintenance on tower-mounted equipment, and provide excellent customer service by clearly communicating technical solutions. Document all work performed through detailed reports and logs while adhering to safety standards related to electrical, telecommunication work, and working at heights. Implement and follow fall protection protocols and tower safety procedures during all climbing operations. Qualifications Proven experience as a Service Technician or in a similar telecommunications role with a strong background in computer networking and electrical systems is prefered Extensive tower climbing experience with demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively at heights Preferred. Hands-on experience with cabling (Cat5/Cat6), including installation at elevated positions. Knowledge of network protocols including Ethernet, LAN configurations, and related hardware. Ability to read schematics accurately and utilize testing tools such as ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical issues. Familiarity with electrical safety practices in telecommunication environments, particularly those related to working at heights. Skilled in the use of hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers), power tools for cable management or equipment installation, and climbing equipment. Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills to assist clients effectively during field visits. Certification in tower climbing, fall protection, or working at heights is paid for by RMCS. Physical ability to climb towers, work at heights for extended periods, and lift equipment as needed.
