Position Summary The Marine Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems aboard marine vessels and related facilities. This role plays a vital part in ensuring fire alarm systems remain compliant, operational, and capable of protecting personnel and property. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, horns, strobes, annunciators, and related equipment. Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions involving wiring, circuitry, devices, and software. Respond to service calls and emergency requests to restore system functionality efficiently. Conduct preventive maintenance activities, including cleaning, calibration, and battery replacement. Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation in accordance with NFPA standards and applicable regulations. Document service activities, work performed, parts used, and customer interactions accurately using company systems. Collaborate with internal teams to provide deficiency reports, repair recommendations, and material requirements. Communicate professionally with customers regarding findings, repairs, upgrades, and scheduling. Coordinate with service and operations personnel to optimize scheduling and workflow efficiency. Maintain a safe, organized work environment while adhering to all company and regulatory safety requirements. Ensure customer satisfaction through timely service, clear communication, and quality workmanship. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, or marine environments. Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes, standards, and regulations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and customer service abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems or a related field. NICET certification(s). State Fire Alarm License or ability to obtain required licensing. Marine industry experience. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods. Comfortable working in industrial, commercial, marine, and outdoor environments. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while utilizing required safety equipment.
